If there’s one thing our work with EPC’s, developers and roofers has proven over the last quarter, it’s this: the smartest U.S. solar projects start with DomesticIQ, but they don’t end there.

DomesticIQ Q2 Findings - Stop Overpaying for “All Domestic”

One of the most common frustrations we hear from our customers is how other module manufacturers respond when asked about domestic content on Manufactured Product Components (MPCs). The answer they get? Often, “It’s complicated.”

At Imperial Star Solar, we don’t think “complicated” is an acceptable answer—and neither should you. We set out to uncomplicate the complicated, provide crystal-clear clarity, and give our customers options because one size does not fit all.

Since March 2025, the Imperial Star Solar sales team has conducted over 100 online demos of the DomesticIQ calculator with customers across a broad range of projects—from Utility Scale to Commercial & Industrial (C&I). The takeaway? Every customer walks away with a sharper understanding of what they actually need versus what they assumed they needed in domestic content percentage coming from the PV module.

This clarity lets them recalibrate budget spend on modules—so they’re not overspending chasing high percentage domestic modules unnecessarily.

What We’ve Found

DomesticIQ breaks every project down piece by piece—tracker, inverter, modules, subcomponents—and shows where domestic content is already baked in before module purchases even start.

In our work last quarter, we consistently found domestic trackers and inverters contributing anywhere from 8% to 20% or more of the domestic content requirement. That means many teams are already well on their way to compliance without overspending on domestic cells—the priciest piece of the stack.

For example:

A major roofing manufacturer came in fixed on buying high-cost domestic cells to meet the bar. DomesticIQ revealed their domestic racking and inverter decisions had already achieved 20% domestic content. This insight let them skip costly domestic cells altogether and blend U.S. and Southeast Asia–made modules, saving money while speeding procurement and locking compliance.

Why This Matters for Developers & EPC’s

  • Domestic Budgets Can Shrink Without Compromise

Thanks to DomesticIQ, you can stop overbuying domestic modules when you’re already compliant via other components.

  • Better Budgeting, More Projects

Clear visibility into what truly counts lets you allocate dollars smarter—save on modules, spend where it moves the needle.

  • Speed Up Your Build Timeline

Because you’re not locked into 100% domestic modules, mixing module sources lets you avoid procurement roadblocks.

  • Plan with Confidence for the Future

With domestic rules tightening, having real-time insight into your needs lets you pivot fast without scrambling.

The Bottom Line

DomesticIQ isn’t guesswork. It’s a powerful lens into your project’s true domestic content percentage. It cuts the confusion, shows you where value lives, and ensures every dollar works harder.

It also lays the foundation for what’s next: tailored solutions built for your exact domestic target and budget — giving you control like never before.

What Comes Next

Finding your number—your real, project-specific domestic content requirement—is only the first step. The next stage we’re building towards is turning that clarity into ready‑to‑build solutions that match your percentage, your year, and your budget.

That means more flexibility, more control, and fewer surprises—so you stay competitive no matter how market conditions or rules evolve.

Stay tuned—your domestic strategy is about to become your competitive edge.
